AIRFRAME CONTROL BEARINGS
RBC offers a full line of airframe control ball and roller anti-friction bearings to the aerospace industry. RBC airframe control bearings conform to SAE-AS7949 (formerly MIL-B-7949) and all major OEM specifications. These bearings are of lightweight design, corrosion protected, grease-lubricated, and typically sealed.
Airframe control bearing rings and balls are made of hardened bearing alloy, AISI 52100, with all exposed surfaces, except bearing bore and seals cadmium plated for corrosion protection. For improved corrosion protection, RBC supplies bearings made of hardened stainless steel alloy, AISI 440C. This alloy may, in addition, be passivated or cadmium plated for enhanced corrosion protection. Additionally, RBC offers airframe control bearings zinc nickel plated to the above base metals, providing an alternative to cad plate (ASM2417).
RBC supplies airframe control bearings both in "Standard" and "Precision" series. The prefix "M" in a bearing number indicates that it is of a precision series. Although designed and manufactured under demanding quality control requirements for airborne systems, these bearings have been successfully used in other fields of application, where motions are mainly oscillatory and/or with limited rotation.
SPHERICAL BEARINGS
RBC Aerospace Bearings offers a full line of Mil Spec standards and many specialty and custom spherical plain bearings to the aerospace industry and all major OEM specifications. Both metal-to-metal and self-lubricating bearings are available. Configurations include swaged construction, load leader slot, split ball and high misalignment designs, with high temperature and light weight titanium and aluminum series offered. Sealed versions are also available.
Various materials are used in RBC swaged spherical bearings including races made from 17-4PH, 15-5PH, aluminum-bronze, AISI303, Inconel® -718, aluminum, and titanium, and spherical plain balls made from 440C, 52100 chrome plated, 13-8PHMo, Stellite®, Beryllium-Copper, aluminum and titanium. Race and ball surfaces may also be provided with a dry film lubricant for high temperature applications or various coatings to enhance corrosion resistance and reduce wear. (Inconel® is a registered trademark of the INCO family of companies. Stellite® is a registered trademark of the Deloro Stellite Company.)
RBC manufactures 4 different self-lubricating liner materials that are qualified to AS81820 (formerly Mil-B- 81820). In addition, over 60 other self-lubricating materials are available for specific characteristic; such as high temperature for turbine engine applications or machinability for airframe, helicopter, and landing gear applications.
Rod End Bearings
RBC Aerospace Bearings offers a full line of Mil Spec Standards and many specialty and custom ball bearing rod end anti-friction bearings to the aerospace industry and all major OEM specifications. These double row, self-aligning bearings accommodate the application's low torque, high load, and misalignment needs. Product conforms to SAE-AS6039, formerly MIL-B-6039.
These double row self-aligning rod ends have inner rings and balls made from thru-hardened 52100 or 440C stainless to accommodate an application's corrosion resistance needs. The bearings are lubricated 80 to 100% fill in compliance with MIL-PRF-81322, MIL-PRF-23827, and Boeing's BMS3-33 specifications. Ball bearing rod ends are equipped with PTFE seals bonded to corrosion resistant caps.
The rod end body is selectively heat treated to provide a combination of a fracture tough head, ductile shank, and a carburized raceway to provide high load carrying capacity. External surfaces are plated with cadmium to provide corrosion protection and thread lubricity. The rod end body can be supplied to AISI8620 or RBC's proprietary AeroCres® corrosion resistant material.
Stud Track Roller Bearings
RBC Aerospace Bearings offers Mil Spec standards and many specialty and custom stud type airframe track rollers to the aerospace industry and all major OEM specifications. RBC stud type airframe track rollers conform to SAE-AS39901, formerly MIL-B-3990. These bearings have been designed for specific use on track type or cam-controlled equipment when cantilever mounting is desired. They are corrosion protected, grease lubricated and, typically, sealed.
Stud type airframe track roller outer rings and needle rollers are made from high carbon chrome steel, AISI 52100. They are hardened and precision ground. The O.D. of the outer ring is chromium plated in accordance with the AMS-QQ-C-320, Class 2 specifications to a minimum of .0004". Stud type airframe track rollers are available with cylindrical or crowned outer rings. Exposed surfaces may be cadmium or zinc nickel plated. For improved corrosion resistance, RBC also supplies bearings made of hardened stainless steel alloy, AISI 440C, or AeroCres® reduced maintenance, highly corrosion resistant steel. These bearings are most commonly lubricated 80 to 100% fill in compliance with Mil-PRF-81322, Mil-PRF-23827, and Boeing's BMS3-33 specifications.
